Identifying As Emo

I am coming out of the emo closet...
For quite a while, I tried to hide the fact that I totally rock out to emo music on a daily basis. During that time, I would divulge only to my closest acquaintances that I was a Closeted Emo.
As of late, I have been expressing my love for the genre PUBLICLY. I typically express myself through my clothes and finally, with this abrupt desire of emo resurgence that has been suppressed since my youth, I am dressing the part.
I would like to make a Public Service Announcement that I am NOT in a depressed state. In fact, I'm feeling better than I've ever felt! Life is good and my mood is stable and blah blah blah.. I'm not ready to get that vulnerable on the internet. Baby steps.
Instead, I am simply enjoying emo songs for their beautiful lyrics and the intense emotion attached to them. I look back on rough periods of my life and remember what it was like to feel that way one upon a time. My retrospection has nothing to do with romanticizing the past or submitting to the lies of nostalgia. It's an act of gratitude for how far I've come.
ANYWAY.....
My recent outfits have been inspired by 2000's goth/emo/rock/pop-punk attire. I've never been an all-black chick, but there are ways to add a lil chroma to this style. This color is commonly known as RED, but is translated differently in Saralanian. I call it MY FAVORITE COLOR EVER. An outfit with a good black X red combo hits different. A true green (#089e04) also pairs well with black. So does purple. Light pink lends itself to a girly-goth look.
I'm especially inspired by the cover shoot for the 032C issue featuring goth Dua Lipa. Look how epic:

Check out the full shoot & article here.
I'll add in some pix of me dressing like a total goth punk rockstar because I am one.
WARNING: I basically only have mirror pics and selfies because I'm shyyyyy. JK!
BIG HAIR is a primary component of the look and a statement I love to make. Teasing comb X hairspray is an addictive combination. Get dark with the makeup. My go-to is the shade Armor in the DISCONTINUED Urban Decay Naked Smoky eyeshadow palette. I searched for a dupe but it's proven hard to replicate. Find anything with rivets and wear it.
I want to include a short playlist of my favorite emo songs ATM:
Hold on Till' May - Pierce the Veil
I'm Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket - Pierce the Veil
Snuff - Slipknot
Duality - Slipknot
This Could Be Anywhere in the World - Alexisonfire
Demolition Lovers - My Chemical Romance
False Pretense - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Martini Kiss - Senses Fail
What It Is to Burn - Finch
A Decade Under the Influence - Taking Back Sunday
The Words "Best Friend" Become Redefined - Chiodos
Thanks for reading! I hope this inspires other Closeted Emos to emerge.
Peace, Sara

Update: I think you just made emo cool
