Into Archive Visit

I went up to New York on Monday and visited the most magical place in the city: Into Archive. Let me tell you, I was soooo into it!

Curated by easily the coolest chick I've ever met, Kate Mao has a collection of over 6,000 archive designer pieces for sale.

After telling her we had travelled up from Philadelphia, she inquired how I had discovered the showroom. I embarassingly gushed about how I've been following her for years and have been entranced by her immaculate style. But nothing is embarassing unless you make it such, so I wasn't afraid to gush. She was flattered and seemingly surprised to be realize how much of an icon she is in my eyes.

I had featured Kate's page in a piece I wrote for my university's fashion blog my freshman year. The article outlined 5 Instagram accounts to follow for style inspiration. Kate's luxurious ensembles have caught my eye since I discovered the Toronto native.

Dennis and I went into the city to shop in celebration of SIX MONTHS of our relationship! Our time together has whizzed by at rapid speed, with no end to the "honeymoon phase" in sight. I'm in looooooove and it feels so good. I can't express in words how precious that man is to me.

ANYWAY, We booked an appointment at Kate's showroom in hopes of acquiring some amazing pieces for SARAPHERNALIA. Read about my incoming clothing rental business here if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Some amazing pieces were indeed acquired!

I spent a large chunk of my savings on three wonderful RARE designer pieces to adorn Saraphernalian clients. A gown, a sweater, and a pair of shoes were added to my inventory.

Our appointment bled over the alotted time, as we spent an hour prancing around her incredible space like excited children in FAO Schwartz. With careful hands, we picked through the garments and shoes and accessories she had pulled from her closet based on my personal style as described to her via text prior to my arrival.

After a lengthy exploration of her archive, filled with many oohs and ahhs and oh em gees, I took to the fitting room to try on my favorite pieces.

Upon reflection of my choices, I realized I have a strong penchant to reach for Gaultiers and Gallianos galore. It was only right to leave the appointment with both Gs in hand. (;

As I narrowed down my finds, Kate remarked that I had great taste. Wow! What an honor to hear such a thing from one of my all-time style icons. I left Into Archive with the biggest smile on my face that still hasn't worn off.

I am over the moon and sun and stars recounting this experience. I cannot wait to share my findings with the whole wide world upon the opening of Saraphernalia.

Humongous TYSM to Kate for having Dennis and me! We will most certainly be back.

TTFN,

Sara
