Reflecting on 2024

2024 was a lovely year that I cannot complain about. Heres a monthly recap of what went down in my life this year.
January

I started 2024 with acrylic nails longer than nature has ever intended fingernails to be. The year itself felt even longer, but in a good way.
On January 23rd, I posted my very first ever blog that I implore you not to read because it's my cringiest piece of prose I've ever produced. But I'm glad I bit the bullet and began blogging! I've been a blog reader for a while (shout out lehipsterportal), and I had been wanting to start one of my own. Look at me now!
February
I went in for my infamous and fruitless "trial day" at V Magazine early this month. If getting ghosted by a C-list NYC magazine taught me anything, it was that I never want to be on the bottom of the fashion food chain doing tedious labor for a Miranda Priestly-esque Editor in Chief. I did, however, gain immense respect for those who start off their career as fashion chumps. But alas, that could never be me. I remember how disrespected I felt when the first and only words the EIC spoke to me was to be quiet. I refuse to lower my voice for anyone, ever. After all, I'm Italian!!
March

I began March with a peaceful solo walk in an unecessary new development in my hometown. I was apparently on a walk kick in March 2024, according to a camera roll reflection.
Later on in the month, I attended my first Thirsty Thursday night at the apartment of the iconic couple: Abby & Amber. Shout out them! These parties became a staple Thursday night activity...and a key turning point in my crush on my now-boyfriend, Dennis.
Also in March, I vowed to quit smoking weed by chucking my Pokéball bong into a dumpster behind my apartment complex. I totally missed and it was NOT cathartic; I had hoped it would shatter into a million pieces but it remained completely intact, its fall being cushioned by some full garbage bags. I've included the video of the attempt, the mascara tear-stained cheeks speak volumes. This moment was not the end of anything.
April

In preparation for her marriage, my cousin had her bachelorette party in April. My cousins and sister and I had a blast at X Bar watching roided male strippers dry hump on bashful brides-to-be. I taught the groom's younger sister how to twerk. It was a terrific night!

I visited the young one aka Re aka Aurora, my little sister, at college in Tennessee. We went to a frat party and it was positively disgusting. We had a good time jamming to a rock cover band at an underage bar, the young one was only 19 at the time. I was listening to a lot of Vultures I at the time and remember Mim singing along to BACK TO ME by Ye. "Ain't no way a big booty woman is fallin out the sky," she sung. Those aren't the words. LOL

The club I was president of in college hosted our annual Spring Cleaning Sale. I sold a pair of bright red pants that no longer fit me to Dennis, he looks rockin awesome in them.
I also sold my vintage Von Dutch skirt for a whopping $15 to some girl. EPIC FAIL.
May
I turned 22 this May! To celebrate, I took some of my friends out to the Continental for dinner. The night leading into my birthday was the Met Gala. I invited friends over to watch the livestream. Dennis stayed until midnight and was the first person to wish my a happy birthday and give me a birthday hug. I love him.
It was a super lowkey birthday. I even recycled my 21st birthday dress and just wore it as a skirt, that's how much I didn't care that I was aging another year.

However, my birthday decoration (singular) remained up for the remainder of our lease that ended in July, so I guess it had somewhat of an impact.
Then I graduated; which was cool, I guess. I was in the worst mood ever that day. Emotions were running high and I cursed out a security gaurd when he told us to leave directly after the ceremony. I was hoping to say goodbye to my friends and professors but he was basically pushing us out the door. "We're fucking going!" I remember shouting at him. I am filled with untapped rage that has the potential to burst out at any moment. I'm hardly sorry though, he lowkey ruined my day.
For the rest of May, Lena and I were exploring America on our road trip. Read my road trip blogs if that interests you.
June
Oh boy! I've been waiting to talk about June. June 2024 was fun. I went to two Pride parades, proving my allegiance to le gays. I saw the Rolling Stones with Lena, Katie, and Kenz which was awesome. I started working full time.

BUT THE BEST PART of June was my very first date with Dennis!!! We went to Guiseppe's & Sons for a lovely dinner. When we emerged from the dimly lit restaurant...my car was nowhere to be found. Stella got towed for parking illegally with several outstanding tickets. I spent the next day Ubering around the entirety of Philadelphia to retrieve her. But we had a lovely night and he even made sure to coordinate with my outfit so we didn't clash. That was the official start to our wonderous romance.
Later in June, my nail ripped out from the root and I decided to ditch the acrylic nails. I mean, I had no choice. THAT was a true end of an era.
July

Tonima and I hosted our Final Function in our apartment, soaking up the last of our lease with our closest homies. I wore a fun knitted outfit with a hood and Toe was the DJ.
Days later, Toe got her white coat!!!! I am so proud of her. She spent countless hours studying to become a PA and now she's juuuuuust about done with her clinical rotations. She is a suPA star.
I evacuated my apartment on July 29th. Read about the emotions attached to that experience in this blog.
August

August began with a new tattoo by, duhhhhhhhh, Gorgi! It's my fave tat on my bod now. A pretty rosary cascading around my left ankle symbolizing.....that I'm a baddie. None of my tattoos symbolize anything except for the fact that I'm cool.
I treated bae to a nice dinner at Parc for his birthday.
Not much else happened in August.
September
I attended the wackest NYFW party of the century in early September. My outfit was cute but it didn't match the vibe of the strange techno heads. I won't name the brand out of respect, but I felt sups uncomfortable because I went alone.

I went to a cool rave deep in a secret clearing in the woods of Philadelphia. The undisclosed location was only revealed via DM upon request with the directions thoroughly described in a PDF document. Shout out to The Machine for hosting and giving out free water. Mgna Crrrta was playing which was super cool. I wore a skirt as a top. Bae and I had fun with his friends who are chill peoples.
I cut my hair super short this month! That was a vibe for a while but definitely too much work styling it everyday.

I randomly landed tickets to see Charli xcx and Troye Sivan at the SWEAT Tour the day before the concert. My friends and I ended up front freaking row and I had a banging time watching Charli nd Troye rock out. They put on an amazing performance and Troye even BLEW US A KISS. Score.
October

October was filled with lots of work days and fall festivities. Dennis and I took a trip to the pumpkin patch which was cute and autumn of us. We bought a ginormo pumpkin and carved a cute design into it on Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween, I dressed as a cute little cavegirl with bones in my hair and a handmade bone belt. Along with a dress that I wore when I was 8 years old on Halloween in... whatever year I was 8 years old. It fit like a mini now that I'm 22 years old which was perfecto. I wore my fur coat and fuzzy boots with fuzzy leg warmers. The look came together perfectly. I had Lena take pictures of me by the bamboo behind the tattoo shop she works at. Shout out First Hand Tattoo.
November

I rocked a really cute hairstyle this month as my layers grew out a bit. I fringed it out to look like Alice Cullen, frying my poor locks in the process.
Lena and I took the train up to NYC to see our friend Nikki. I really enjoyed that night because it was a total friend mashup. We met up with my girl Daniella and her friends and all went to Nikki's adorable West Village apartment together. I love when friends collide!
After drinking too much $6 wine, I totally barfed on the train home. It was disgusting and plentiful. Lena generously offered her entire pack of rolling papers to clean me up. We avoided paying the fare because the conductor wanted absolutely nothing to do with us. I don't blame him, at least we got a free ride!
December
On December 10th, 2024 I made a much more serious to vow than I made in March to clean up my act. One month into my sobriety, I feel great! It isn't as difficult as it once felt to not consume alcohol or drugs. I intend to stay clean for the remaining duration of my long, gloriouds life! I'd love to share my story regarding my recovery but that's for another time.
I spent the holidays with my loved ones and rung in the New Year with Lena, sober all the while.
I cannot forget to mention the launch of my business, SARAPHERNALIA!
2025 is going to be epic and prosperous. I can't wait to make more memories with the same people who made 2024 so special.
TTFN,
Sara
