Cue the fanfare, it's time to get band geek chic.
I have so much faith in the marching band jacket. I expect and sure hope that I see one on every hip young woman soon. I will always predict trends with the word "soon", which could mean anything from a few weeks to a couple years, to save myself. Just in case people start to doubt my prophecies. "Soon" is the equivalent of a friend lending advice only to finish the suggestion with "but that's just me" just in case they're destroying the trajectory of your life.

Majorette Core is what I'm going to call it. I don't particularly love how everything is a "core" now, but it inspires Tumblr nostalgia so I'll go with it. Check out 1964 Majorette Barbie. Notice the white pleated skirt to match the white boots. I would have put big gold (gasp!--I seldom wear gold) buttons down the right breast where the closure is, but thats just me. Add gloves if you're a real one. Ignore the Linda Flynn-Fletcher hairstyle.

I've included a photo of me rocking the trumpet player trend. I found this vintage band jacket at [REDACTED] years and years ago. Beneath it, I paired the most incredible fancy pleated button up under-a-tuxedo-type-thing from the young boys' section of the thrift store. Mim (the name I refer to my mother by) had to pin me all up in it because it wouldn't button over my boobs. I guess young boys don't have that issue...
The person whom inspired my love for this look was Cara Delevigne. Stylists just love putting that chick in a band jacket!

See what I mean? And the looks range from 2015 to 2022, a truly timeless style. Let's vote on which jacket we like best:

I'm excited to see the winner of the battle of the band jackets! And more so excited to see them sold everywhere because I really like the look. Curious to see which direction different brands go with it. MAJORETTE CORE AF.
TTFN,
Sara
