F/W '24 Accessory Vibes

Let's talk fall/winter accessories. My favorite season and favorite topic. That isn't true but I do very much enjoy accessorizing. My favorite topic is probably existentialism, but that's not at all what this post is about.

Biker Gloves

I'm talking tiny fingerless gloves that serve no purpose other than serving. I bought a pair of moto gloves from Spirit Halloween that are so cheaply made that it angers me. But their potential was through the roof. I got the idea from none other than Lady Gaga who, in her iconic prime, wore the exact gloves that sparked my interest.

Lady Gaga impersonator rocking dope glovies.

I found some designer pieces that are closer to my desired look than my cheapo Spirit purchase.

Chainmail

I know you've been seeing it everywhere; I sure have. Chainmail purses, headdresses, and shawls. Even whole dresses! I've even been noticing fashionistas--male and female alike-- rocking full armour. That's much in my opinion, but it's all to say: knights are totally in.

The headress is by far my favorite. A perfect outfit enhancer for sitting at the round table Sex and the City x Lancelot style with your girlies.

1998 Paco Rabanne by Thierry Le Gouès

Paired with latex: woahhhhh. Channel your inner domme with that uber-sexy combination. Paco Rabanne did it in 1998 with this incredible photo of a baddie draped in metal links over what could very well be a gimp suit. Could also be latex leggings and gloves, but a gimp suit would elevate this ominously seductive vibe to the max.

Shouts out to the artists who spend HOURS linking metal rings together to make these outstanding pieces. Best of luck with your carpal tunnel surgery!

Funky Hats

What's that? A hat? Crazy funky junky hat. Overslept? Hair unsightly? Tryna look like Kiera Knightley? We've been there, we've done that. We see right through your funky hat.

So like that, but not. Sometimes a hat is simply the move, even on a good hair day!

I am quite the collector of page-boy hats, my personal favorite style.

In the winter, I love to wear hats with pom poms. Not the cutesy, fluffy poms, but the puffs made out of thick, coarse yarn.

I own a derpy-yet-adorable sock monkey hat knitted from rough yarn. I can't remember from where I acquired it, but for some reason I want to say it was hand made in Peru by a mountain merchant. I've never been to Peru but the hat made its way to me.

Any funky statement hat will do just fine. Be original for goodness sake and find a weird hat at a vintage store and buy it! If you wanna talk about the risk of lice, take your worrywart self elsewhere!!!

Blue Eyeshadow

Self explanatory. For fall especially, I've been loving a blue eye look. Think Mia Goth as Maxine in X with her sloppily-applied porn star shadow.

I have a nice Covergirl single in icy blue that is perfect for winter, but a royal blue kinda rocks more.

No matter the shade, blue eyeshadow is so fun and bold that it makes a statement no matter what eye color or complexion you may have.

Red Stockings

Ex-VS Angel Elsa Hosk paired her stockings with a red heel...loves it.

J'adoreeeeeee. I'm a little late to this trend but I DON'T CARE! A nice opaque primary red footed stocking is so fire; not only for a Christmas party or V-Day (that works too), but perhaps for a trip to the gas station before work.

My daily morning ritual includes a Celsius run to my local 7-11 or Sunoco. I prefer to call it a fashion show for the familiar strangers I see each day. Though I don't know their names and I doubt they know mine, they definitely know that I put that shit on. I don't play when it comes to my work fits.

Call me obnoxious, but I hate to leave the house without being done up. To catch me outside in sweats is rare. I'll offer a reward to anyone who captures a photo of me bummy. It'll only be $1 though because I have to save the rest of my riches for a pair of red stockings.

Ties Worn In Unconventional Ways

I keep having to double-take fit pics where creative dressers utilize men's ties in new ways. Whether it's a hair accessory, a skirt, or something even more out-of-the-box, I'm totally here for a tie look.

Archive the Label reworked vintage tie top.

A particular style I've been seeing is a tankular top made out of reworked ties. I first noticed small, independent labels using vintage materials to craft these unique pieces.

Lo and behold, in my research for this piece I found that the #1 Google result is a SHEIN replica. Disgusto. It angers me that indie brands constantly have their original designs ripped off by garment production giants. The rips offs are made with cheaper quality fabric, mass produced by wealthy corporations, and easily accessible at a fraction of the price via online purchase to a loyal, established, international customer base. *Deep breath* NOT TO MENTION, the nostalgia aspect of a vintage reworked piece is completely stripped from the garment.

Chainmail TIE!? C'monnnnnn

Reference my tidbits of fashion knowledge (or rather, my personal accessory preferences) when planning your next outfit.

PLEASE! FOR PETE'S SAKE! ACCESSORIZE! You will not regret it.

TTFN,

Sara
