Wedge. Sneakers.

Wedge sneakers are totally in again. The only reason they ever left is because I broke my favorite 5" pair in 2021. Actually, they broke in 2020 but didn't officially retire until the following year. These beloved shoes singlehandedly got me through the pandemic.

Everyone hated those damn Wedge Sneakers, but they were the most loyal pair of shoes I've ever owned. There were two key components to these beauties: The Wedge and The Platform. I like cosplaying as a tall person. I got them off Depop for 30 bucks. Total score.

They initially busted while stumbling home from a college party. Classic. I remember onlookers asking if I'm ok. Forget my ankle, are my shoes intact?! The zipper had busted but nothing a crude hand-sew couldn't fix. Luckily, Wedge Sneakers have two entry routes. I simply loosened the laces like a regular sneaker and slipped them on. Good as new.
Then, the sole began detaching from The Platform portion of the shoe. Yikes. But I couldn't bear to part with them! I found some white duct tape and re-secured those puppies. Good as new? I deluded myself for another few months until I laid them in their final resting place: the back of my closet, where shoes go to die. A proper shoe graveyard.
A tribute to The Shoes:
I think I've gushed enough about how important these shoes are to me. Let's get to the trend report.
As I research where to find Wedge Sneakers, the only vendors that Google comes up with are AliExpress and SHEIN... I wouldn't dare! But I did track down some designer shoes that rock.

Isabel Marant brought back her iconic 2011 Wedge Sneaker in 2021, early to the trend that's finally gaining traction this spring. The 2010s are on deck to perform their reprise in the cycle of style. Y2K fashion has been out for a while, though that means nothing to me because I WEAR WHAT I WANT! I'm stoked for a reboot of my elementary school swag. Please never let me relive my middle school businesswoman chic era...that was so strange of tweenage me.
Skinny jeans and capris are on their way. If you were afraid of low rise jeans, get ready to face off with the low rise skinny. No matter what body type you have, just wear them. Anything looks good on anybody, as long as you wear it with confidence.
An epic pic I found on Tumblr:

All of this is to say that Wedge Sneakers are the best thing known to man and they're coming back with a vengeance. Haters will deny it; in doing so, they're exposing themselves as people who simply don't understand the vibe...
My parting words:
You think you know me? Walk a mile in my Wedge Sneakers then we'll chat. Sunglasses emoji.
TTFN, Sara
